Hello K-Film Folks, I'm an instructor who's having some problems getting Korsakow to work on the computers in our Mac Lab. I had Korsakow 5 (not 5.0.4 as it hadn't yet been released) and Flash 10.0.45.2 installed in our lab (Macs running OSX 10.4.11). We can view posted K-Films just fine, and SNUify our clips, but when we go to export projects with any media type other than JPEGs, we get the following error:
An error occurred while encoding the media "/Volumes/USB DISK/panoramaKorsakow/panorama8.mov" for export. The media file might be corrupt or not supported by korsakow, if you wish to send us a sample or believe the file should be supported, please contact us
We get this error even when using clips from the Free Starter Pack. We can export projects if we only SNUify JPEGs, but as soon as .mov or .mp3 or .wav files are involved, we get that media encoding error.
My students and I brought our own laptops to class and installed Korsakow (+ latest Flash) and ALL of us were able to export projects successfully from our laptops (even those running Windows 7). So, I'm wondering if this problem might be something to do with the fact that the Mac lab machines are "locked down"?
I'm hesitant to ask our Lab Tech folks to install Korsakow 5.0.4 to see if that fixes the problem because it was only 2 weeks ago I had them install 5.0. So, I'm trying to get any insight I can first. Any thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.
A huge thank you to all the people who continue to support this project for all kinds of reasons: Florian Thalhofer (chief visionary); Matt Soar (general direction); Monika Kin Gagnon (support and direction); Dave Reisch (chief programmer); Gabriel Gosselin (technical consultation and website consultation + emergency CPR); Dayna McLeod (fab workshop leader); Ryan Cadrette and Irene Sarrano (trusty grad research assistants); Sophie Guérin (French translation); Yoram Schaffer (Hebrew translation); Frederico Favoreto (Portuguese translation); Irene Serrano (Spanish translation); and, all the artists, teachers and filmmakers who work with Korsakow and continue to give us great feedback, eg Midi Onodera (Toronto), Phil Hoffman (York University), Adrian Miles (RMIT), Steve Anderson (USC) and Karen Kocher (University of Texas).
